Clyde E. Singleton, age 86, of Waco, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 15, 2009 at Lake Shore Village in Waco. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Moore Cemetery near Chalk Bluff, with the Rev. Charles Howard officiating. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by West V.F.W. Post 4819. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Singleton was born on March 26, 1923 in Liberty Hill, the son of Auda David and Mary Adaline (Box) Singleton. He attended school in Gregory and graduated from Gregory High School in 1940. He joined the United States Army Air Corp and served during World War II and the Vietnam War. On August 17, 1991, he was united in marriage to Loyce Nann Spillman in Gholson. Clyde worked as a machinist with the United States Army for over 12 years retiring in 1964. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. Clyde was a member of Elm Mott Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post in Temple and American Legion Post. He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Tommy Singleton; and a sister, Vera Kline. Survivors include his beloved wife of 18 years, Loyce Singleton; daughters, Kathy Smith and husband Doug of Bandera and Cynthia Woolf and husband Kevin of San Diego, California; sons, Steven Howard and wife Renee, Michael Howard and wife Valerie, David Howard and wife Terri and Rev. Charles Howard and wife Beth, all of Waco; two brothers, David A. Singleton and Bobby J. Singleton both of Portland; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association.
