Cleo Frances Malone, age 97, of West, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 12, 2011 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday at the First Baptist Church of West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Mrs. Malone was born December 5, 1913 in Whitesboro, the daughter of Noah Francis and Rebekah Manning. She attended school in Whitesboro. She was united in marriage to Gordon Wesley Malone in Whitesboro. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1988. Cleo worked as a seamstress for Scholhoph Manufacturing Company in Dallas for over 30 years before retiring in the late 1960's. She enjoyed gardening, walking, sewing, and cooking. Cleo moved to the West area in 1993 to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of West. Cleo is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Lela Manning, Wilma Manning, and Melva Griffin. Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Brooks and husband James "Bo" of West; three grandchildren, Tonya White, Brittney Hand and husband Justin, and Jayme Brooks; three great grandchildren, Hailey White, Hunter White and Kirstyn Hand; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Richard Freels, James Brooks IV, Justin Hand, Dale Mayfield, David Rogers, Jim Madigan, Mike Easley, Kim Johnson, David Miracle, and Wayne Wilpatrick. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Memorial Fund or the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
