Clarence R. Horn

Clarence "C.R." Horn, age 88, of Elk, passed away late Monday afternoon, January 16, 2012 at Providence Hospital in Waco. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Rev. Gary Kreder officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy, conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Horn was born December 25, 1923 in Ranger, the 5th of 9 children of Harmon Lafayette and Sarah Lucretia (Casey) Horn, Jr. He grew up in ranger and was an all-district football player for Ranger High School. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II as a tank gunner participating in several battles, including the Battle of the Bulge. C.R. was a 1950 graduate of Texas Tech University. On February 2, 1978 he was united in marriage to Ernestine Carolyn Lee in Lubbock. C.R. was the owner of Horn Manufactured Homes for over 50 years before retiring in 2009. He was known for his fair business practices, willingness to help anyone in need and was a champion of the underdog. C.R. enjoyed working, being outdoors and farming. He especially loved spending time with his family and preparing for egg hunts at Easter time. He was also a caring father figure to many including, Marilyn, Sean, Marsha and Mikala. C.R. is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Buchanan "Buck" Horn, Herman Horn, Tant Horn, Roy Horn and Billy Horn; and a sister, Anna Dale Gibbs. Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, Carolyn (Lee) Horn. Four sons, Timothy Ray Horn and wife Kay of Austin, Tyron Kern Horn of Dallas, Paul "David" Horn of Arlington, and Dalton Lee Williams of Amarillo; a daughter, Tanna Kay Lazaroff of Little Elm; two sisters, Betty Foster of Elk and Lucretia Brown and husband Len of Hillsboro; 15 grandchildren; and many precious nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Ronnie Horn, Bobby Horn, Tommy Gibbs, Jeff Horn, Greg Horn, Michael Ferguson and Andy Ferguson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
