Clara (Hykel) Nors, age 91, of West Rest Haven, formerly of Abbott, passed away late Tuesday morning, December 29, 2009 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home by Janice Kaluza, followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. Steven Nesrsta and Rev. B. George as celebrants. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery. Mrs. Nors was born July 22, 1918 in McLennan County, the daughter of Louis A. and Julia (Kallus) Hykel. She attended Alligator Creek and Abbott schools. On October 20, 1937 she was united in marriage to Vaclav "Jim" Nors in West. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1995. Clara worked as a seamstress for Malouf Manufacturing, Woods Manufacturing and Rose Marie's Sewing Factory for many years before opening Clara's Beauty Shop in Abbott which she operated for over 25 years before her retirement in 2000. She was a charter member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church in Abbott and the Catholic Daughters of America in Hillsboro. She was also a member of the K.J.Z.T. Society No. 104 in Abbott. Clara enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening and quilting. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her parents; a grandson, Michael Nors; a great grandson, Justin Waters; and a brother, L. A. Hykel; also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Nors and wife Marie of Abbott and Marvin R. Nors and wife Joan of Hewitt; three daughters, Marcella Sinkule and husband James M. of Birome, Dolores "Dee" Davlin and special friend, Steve Miller of Hewitt, and Clara Mae Roznovsky and husband Edmund of Hot Springs, AR; three sisters, Helen Pustejovsky and Leona Taylor and husband F.D. "Sandy", all of West and Judy Ridlehuber of Abbott; 16 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are James Nors, Richard Nors, David Nors, Matthew Nors, Kevin Nors, Vincent Sinkule, Dennis Sinkule, Robbie Skidmore, Shelly Steele, and Cristi Figueroa. Honorary pallbearers are Carolyn Waters, Elaine Kolar, Rockelle Bullard, Tracy Underwood, Cindy Brockett, and Carla Hulsey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott or to the West Volunteer Ambulance Association. If anyone wishes to visit with the family, they will be gathering at the residence of James and Elaine Kolar in West.
