Clara (Jerabek) Carter, age 98, of West, passed away late Friday evening, September 16, 2022 at West Rest Haven in West.
A rosary will be recited 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow until 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Clara was born February 16, 1924 in West, the daughter of Emil and Marie (Nemecek) Jerabek. She was a 1941 graduate of West High School prior to attending Incarnate Word College in San Antonio and the University of Texas in Austin. On April 16, 1947 she was united in marriage to Doug Carter in West. Doug preceded her in death on August 17, 2017. Clara was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of Board of Directors for West Rest Haven from 1982 to 2019, a charter member and Associate Director for Westfest for several decades until 2019, the KJZT St. Ludmila Society #11, the Catholic Daughter of America Court #829, and Women's Chapter of American Institute of Banking. She was a teller and assistant cashier for West Bank & Trust, now PointWest Bank for many years until her retirement. Clara enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, cooking, planning parties, and making floral arrangements. She loved entertaining friends and family.
Clara is also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Jerabek.
Survivors include her children, Susan Jones and husband Lloyd of Georgetown, Patti George and husband Art of Granbury, Mike Carter and wife Jennifer of Austin, and Jan Laine and husband Mike of Bryan; sisters, Evelyn Kunetka and Dorothy Nichols; her grandchildren, Bryan and Amanda Jones, Jeff Jones, Gregory and Lindsey George, Phillip George, Abigial Carter, Sara and Brandon Sears, Holly and Jake Carroll, and Marshall Laine; her great grandchildren, Aspen, Beau, Chandler, Della, Brody, Aubrey, and Hadley; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Bryan Jones, Jeff Jones, Greg George, Phillip George, Marshall Laine, Brandon Sears, and Jake Carroll.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Cemetery Association or the History of West Museum.
