Cynthia "Cindy" (Bessire) Knapek, 64, of Waco, passed away late Tuesday morning, December 24, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends, after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the First Methodist Church in Waco, with Rev. Ryan Barnett officiating. Private Graveside will follow at Old Lebanon Cemetery near Aquilla.
Born on August 6, 1960, Cindy dedicated 26 years of her life to serving as the Business Administrator at the First Methodist Church of Waco. Her work and commitment to the church community were a testament to her strength, kindness, and dedication. She also attended and volunteered her services at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church for several years.
Cindy is preceded in death by her father, Roy Bessire; mother, Glenease Bessire; her husband, Eugene Knapek; sister, Linda Tumillo; brother, Terry Thomas; step-sister, Michelle Connell; and father-in-law, Ben Knapek.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Alexis Paige “Blair” Knapek and partner, Matt; step-son, Scott Neff and husband, Charles Neff; granddaughter, Emma Neff; sister, Carol Riggs; brother, Keith Thomas; step-sister, Kimberly Hawkins; step-mother, Barbara Bessire; her mother-in-law, Lottie Knapek, brother-in-law, Larry Knapek; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, including her dear friend, Bill Bauer.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Lucy's Loving Care for their exceptional care and love. We also wish to acknowledge Cindy's work family and friends for their unwavering support throughout her journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ALS Association.
