Charles "Chuck" and "Grampop" Cagle, age 81, of West, passed away late Sunday afternoon, April 25, 2021 at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2021 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. LIVE STREAM of the service will be provided. Limited capacity, facial masks, and social distancing are encouraged. Chuck was born September 12, 1939 in Clanton, Alabama the son of L.C. and Vivian (Silas) Cagle. He was a 1957 graduate of Huey Town High School and went on to attend the University of North Alabama. On March 2, 1978 he was united in marriage to Barbara Hilburn in Irving. Chuck served his country in the United States Navy and Coast Guard Reserves. He was the owner and operator of Restaurant Equipment Service Company in Waco for 22 years before retiring in 2006. Chuck had a gusto for many elements of his life, including his family, his friends, the U.S.S. John Hood on which he proudly served while in the Navy, the University of Alabama, and competing for the cover of the Waco Wetlands calendar with his magnificent wildlife photographs. He proudly knew the location of every eagle, vermillion fly catcher, and peregrine falcon's home in and around Central Texas, and he guarded those secrets closely. The impact Chuck had on his family's lives will be everlasting. They take solace in knowing the profound effect Chuck had on all those he encountered and the certainty that he is now in Heaven, taking the most beautiful wildlife photos while swapping stories with his son and Coach Bear Bryant. Roll Tide, Dad, Roll Tide!! Chuck is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Donald W. Wilson. Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Barbara Cagle of West; daughters, Teresa Horton and husband Joey of Northlake, Terri Cagle of McGregor, and Sheri Spurgeon of Stephenville; sister, Carol Noe and husband Doug; grandchildren, Amy, Christine, Ruby, Terry, Brandi, Ashley, Ronnie, Emily, Kaitlyn, and Chance; 18 great-grandchildren; a niece, Kelly; a nephew, Stephen; honorary family member, Lucy Landry; and many other relatives and friends.
