Charlie Hajek

Charlie Hajek, age 57, of West, passed away late Wednesday evening, April 15, 2020 at his residence. Private Graveside Services will be held Monday, April 20, 2020 (by live stream only) at St. Mary's Cemetery in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. A private rosary will be recited Sunday (by live stream only). Charlie will lie-in-state Sunday from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. at Aderhold Funeral Home. Charlie was born July 11, 1962 in Waco, the son of Arnold and Dorothy (Grmela) Hajek. He attended St. Mary's School and was a 1980 graduate of West High School. On August 18, 1995 he was united in marriage to Charlott Sharp in West. Charlie was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was a former member of the West Volunteer Fire Department. He was a short haul trucker for Statewide Material for over 10 years. Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting skeet, and attending and participating in many area Barbecue cook offs. He loved spending time with family and all his friends. Charlie is preceded in death by his father, Arnold Hajek Jr.; his brother, Louis Hajek; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Girard. Survivors include his beloved wife of 24 years, Charlott Hajek of West; his mother, Dorothy Hajek of West; his sons, C. J. Hajek and Matt Hajek; his daughter, Angie Colburn and husband Robert of Austin; his precious grandchildren, Callie Mitchell, Payton Mitchell, Chloe Zarecor, Tensley Hajek and Hayes Hajek; sisters, Louise Girard and Theresa Soukup and husband Henry; sisters-in-law, Amy Hajek, Marca Ensley and husband Carl, and Tammy Gonzalez and husband Johnny; brothers-in-law, Jim Sharp and Mike Ritchie and wife Desiree; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Henry A. Soukup, Joseph Girard, Tommy Girard, Clint McHargue, Raiven Hajek, Holly Soukup, Brent Pavlas, Ernest "Kutsch" Kutscherousky. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Colon Cancer Association or the charity of your choice.
