Charles W. Waggoner, age 88, of Elm Mott, formerly of Memphis, TN, passed away late Wednesday evening, November 16, 2011 at Lakeshore Estates in Waco. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Cemetery near Penelope, with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Mr. Waggoner was born January 8, 1923 in Holt County, MO the son of Walter James and Rosa Melvina (Carr) Waggoner. He attended schools in St. Joseph, MO. Charles served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. On December 10, 1946 he was united in marriage to Ruby Jenkins in Hernando, MS. Charles was a field supervisor and engineer for Cook & Nichol, Inc. in Memphis, TN for over 30 years until he retired in 1996. At that time they moved to Elm Mott to be near their daughter. Charles was a member of the Elk's Lodge in Memphis. He enjoyed flying airplanes, playing golf, reading western books and attending Wednesday coffee at McDonald's with his son-in-law, Ben. Charles is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Faye Waggoner Robinson. Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Ruby Waggoner of Elm Mott; a daughter, Janice Beseda and her husband Ben Roy of Elm Mott; a brother, Gene Waggoner of Bonner Springs, KS; two grandsons, Zack Beseda of Los Angeles, CA and Cody Beseda of Louisville, KY; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his favorite cousin, Mavis Ourant and his caregiver, Martina Salazar. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
