Lieutenant Colonel Charles Edward Lee Jr. USAF Retired, age 98, of Waco, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023 at West Rest Haven in West.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Military honors will be provided by the West Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be held at a later date at Park Hill Cemetery in Landingville, Pennsylvania.
Charles was born August 4, 1925 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the son of the late Alma (Brochu) and Charles E. Lee Sr. He was a graduate of Shoemakersville High School in Shoemakersville, MA, prior to attending LeHigh University in Bethlehem, PA. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army, Army Air Corp, and Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. During that mp, he flew over 60 missions and received many medals of recognition. He taught avionics at the former James Connally Air Force Base. Charles was honorably discharged at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after 27 years of service. Charles was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 in West. He enjoyed racing pigeons and taking care of his dogs, cats, pony and his mice (yes, his mice).
Survivors include his many friends, including the David and Evelyn Pareya family of West, Bobby and Catherine Jane Dvorsky of Bellmead, Mike Dvorsky of Waco, Gordon "GT" Dvorsky of Waco, Holly Dvorsky of Waco, and Norwood Campbell of Bellmead.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Veterans Honor Guard.
