Charles August Barton

Charles August Barton, age 94, of Mesquite, formerly of the West area, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 11, 2013. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery near Tours. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday at the church. Mr. Barton was born October 19, 1919 in West, the son of August and Anna (Hanzelka) Barton. He was a graduate of Axtell High School. He was united in marriage to Eleanor Berger, she preceded him in death on September 30, 2007. Charles was an accountant for Henry C. Beck Construction Company in Dallas for 33 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Club in Corsiciana. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and watching all sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Charles is preceded in death by six brothers; three sisters; and a step-grandson. Survivors include three sons, Charles W. Barton and wife Becky of Ft. Worth, Stanley Barton and wife Linda of Dallas and Robert Barton and wife Sonya of Cedar Hill; two daughters Dorinda Eubanks and husband Sam Perez of Houston and Teri Salla and husband Michael of Rockwall; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's Cemetery.
