Charlene Sue Jares, age 65, of West, passed away Monday evening, January 9, 2012 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cemetery near West, with Rev. Anthony Odiong and Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. Charlene will lie-in-state at the funeral home beginning 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Charlene was born November 6, 1946 in West, the daughter of Shook Sid and Loma Pearl (Sullins) Harris. She attended school in West prior to graduating from West High School. She received an associate's degree in communications from T.S.T.C. On November 23, 1963 she was united in marriage to Larry M. Jares in West. Charlene was the deli manager at Czech Stop in West for 12 years before retiring in 2007. Prior to that, she worked for over 20 years at the Rangaire Corporation. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Charlene enjoyed doing yard work, shopping and was known as an E-Bay Queen, "she knew how to find the bargains". She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Charlene is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Frankie Harris; and a sister, Shirley Irene Black. Survivors include her beloved husband of 48 years, Larry Jares; three daughters, Laura Glatter and husband Carl of West, Terri Vrana and husband Gary of Gholson, and Ginger Kendrick and husband Billy of Leroy; two sons, Robert Jares and wife Tammie of Hewitt and David Jares and wife Mandy of West; two sisters, Linda Henkelman and husband Robert of Lorena and Patsy Williams and husband Farris of West; 21 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and any nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819 for the Wall of Honor.
