Charlene Gibson

Charlene Gibson, age 82, of Aquilla, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, August 5, 2015 at Providence Health Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with David Snipes officiating. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery near Aquilla. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Charlene was born September 12, 1932 in Rosenthal, the daughter of Bert and Lelia (Rogers) McQueen. She attended schools in Waco and was a 1951 graduate of Aquilla High School. On January 5, 1952 she was united in marriage to Wayne Gibson in West. Wayne preceded her in death on November 18, 2013. Charlene worked for Sprayberry Handbags in Laguna Park for over 10 years before retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Aquilla Baptist Church. Charlene enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, working with the cows, farming, cooking and sewing. She especially loved family gatherings, spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid Texas Ranger and Baylor Lady Bears Fan. Charlene is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edwin McQueen, Chester McQueen, Johnnie McQueen and Dean McQueen; and sisters, Ola Shelton and Rudy Brown. Survivors include two sons, Don Gibson and wife Alice and David Gibson and wife Jimmie Sue, all of Aquilla; a daughter, Vicki Miles and husband Roger of Elm Mott; grandchildren, Rebecca Miles, James Miles and wife Molly and Brazos Gibson; great grandsons, Garrett and Levi Nickell; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Brazos Gibson, James Miles, Lee Bearden, Jim Mabry, Bill Crawshaw, Clay Simmons, Kyle Covey and Nolan Allred. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
