Cecil "Cotton" Pemberton, age 86, of West, passed away late Monday afternoon, November 13, 2017 in Itasca. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cotton was born June 22, 1931 in Seymour, the son of Arthur and Eunice (Box) Pemberton. He grew up and attended schools in Bryson prior to attending Abilene Christian College, where he met and fell in love. On July 25, 1958 he was united in marriage to Peggy Hatter in Abilene. Peggy preceded him in death on September 27, 2014. Cotton was a carpenter all his life and did not shy away from hard work. He was a member of the West Hill Church of Christ in Cleburne. Cotton enjoyed woodwork and volunteering at The Bridge Food Bank. He is also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ted Pemberton. Survivors include his children, Margie Freeman and husband Sidney of Whitney and Dr. Glenn Pemberton and wife Dr. Dana of Abilene; six grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Bridge at West Hill Church of Christ in Cleburne.
