Carolyn Marie Harris

Carolyn Marie Harris, age 78, of West, passed away Sunday morning, May 15, 2016 at her daughter's home near West. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Todd Ewing officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Carolyn was born July 29, 1937 in Waco, the daughter of Carl A. and Margaret (Lipka) Stobbe. She was a graduate of Waco High School before receiving her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education from Baylor University. On December 21, 1956 she was united in marriage to Gary R. Harris in Waco. Gary preceded her in death on July 28, 2014. Carolyn was a 1st grade and Special Education teacher for the West and Gholson Independent School District for 30 years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of the West Church of Christ. Carolyn enjoyed taking pictures, going on trips to Colorado, being outdoors, reading and riding horses. She especially loved spending time with family, teaching children and helping others. Carolyn is also preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Joshua Zarecor. Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Young and husband Rodney and Michelle "Shelley" Glatter and husband Ray, all of West; a brother, Carl Stobbe and wife Norma; a sister, Cindy Dale and husband Gary; grandchildren, Dillan Lambright, Shanan Zarecor, Cassy Young and Shawn Young and wife Amber; great grandchildren, Chloe Zarecor, Katie Young, McKayla Young, Jayden Lambright, Cheyenne Zarecor and Sophia Wells; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Rodney Young, Shawn Young, Dustin Wells, Robert Howard, and James "Termite" Whitman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund.
