Carlton Otto Green, age 61, of Chalk Bluff, passed away early Thursday evening, June 16, 2011 at his residence. Memorial services will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Tom Warnock officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the West Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819. Carlton was born January 5, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He attended schools in Brackettville, Texas. Carlton served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, receiving medals for gallantry. Carlton worked as an offshore diver in the Gulf for several oil companies. He enjoyed all forms of outdoor activities as well as cooking. Carlton was a member of the Central Texas Rifle and Pistol Club and a volunteer for the Veterans Administration Hospital. Survivors include many friends and neighbors, including Bob Kreid and family, Sharon, Chris and Wendy Nelson and family, Jeff and Cindy Stamps, Tom Warnock, Jacob Straub, Monte "Buddha" Notton; and other veterans, including members of Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, and the USS Hornet Marine Detachment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 for the purpose of bringing the Vietnam "Moving Wall" to West.
