Carl Duane Adair

July 28, 1934 — April 4, 2011

Carl Duane "Dad" Adair, age 76, of Elm Mott, went to be with his Lord and Savior late Monday evening, April 4, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Ministers Neil Cosgrove and Rusty Kwast officiating. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery near Ross. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Adair was born July 28, 1934 in Abbott, the son of Elmer C. and Myrtle B. (Willis) Adair. He graduated from Abbott High School in 1952. In 1984 he was united in marriage to Wanda Ridings in Waco and she preceded him in death. Duane worked as an inspector for General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco for over 40 years. He was a member of the Elm Mott Church of Christ. He was also a member of the United Rubber Workers Union. Duane enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, listening to music, and playing in a band when he was young. He was known as "Dad" to many other than his own family. Duane is also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Molly Adair; and two great grandchildren, Corbin Gonzales and Sean DeLeon. Survivors include three sons, Rickey Adair of Gholson, Keith Adair of Waco, and Mark Adair and wife Liberty of Hewitt; four daughters, Debbie Livingston and husband Mel of Temple, Carla Winston of Palestine, Malynda Carroll and husband Bill of Lindale, and Brenda Adair of Palestine; a stepson, Terry Nance of Waco; five step daughters, Dee Dee Borneman of Wimberly, Tina Landmesser of Waco, Bobbie Templin of China Spring, and Brenda Anderson and Cindy Lucien, both of Waco; a brother, Donald R. Adair and wife Wanda of West; a sister, Carolyn Joan Cosgrove and husband Neil of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Terry Adair, Randy Adair, Gary Adair, Steve Cosgrove, Cody Adair, Tim Ivy, and Larry Adair. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or the West Church of Christ. The family wishes to give special thanks to the caring staff of Providence Hospice as well as thanks to Stephanie Ivy and Dalton Calvery and the numerous others who cared for Duane.
