Bobby Uptmor

Bobby Uptmor, age 68, of Leroy, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, April 2, 2017 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Walter Dhanwar as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery, with meal and visitation to follow. Bobby was born May 5, 1948 in Waco, the son of the late Freddy "Sonny" and Gloria A. (Lockstedt) Uptmor. He attended school in Tours and graduated from West High School in 1967. Bobby then received a degree in electronics from TSTI in Waco. On October 9, 1969 he married the love of his life, Rene Lawrence in Slaton. Bobby was a Master Instructor at TSTC for over 32 years before retiring in September of 2016. He and Rene purchased the Lone Star Tavern & Steakhouse in 1986 and successfully ran it until selling it in September of 2012. Before going into the restaurant business, he was a supervisor with MCI in Waco. Bobby was a lifelong member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. He was always helping friends and neighbors in need, but he found time to garden, fish, run a catfish and bass hatchery, have a large model train collection and paint models and figurines for convention competition. Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Rene Uptmor of Leroy; a daughter, Jennifer Uptmor of Lacy Lakeview; a grandson, Joshua Biles; a great granddaughter, Adeline Biles; a brother, Steve Uptmor and wife Teresa; a sister-in-law, Robin Gibbs and husband Michael; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Ricky Grones, Dwayne Uptmor, Brian Uptmor, Paul Uptmor, Robby Altus, Ronnie Grones and Donnie Grones. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin Church Building Fund or to St. Martin Cemetery Association.
