Bobby Minix, age 72, of Aquilla, passed away late Wednesday morning, August 20, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with the Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery near Aquilla. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Minix was born on March 17, 1936 near Gholson at Rogers Hill, the son of Floyd and Rosa (Smith) Minnix. He attended schools in West. He served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On September 20, 1958, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Baker in Aquilla. Bobby was the executive Vice President of the Martin Linen Company in Waco, San Antonio, Dallas, Atlanta, Georgia, and New York, New York for over 45 years until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed raising cattle and was a member of the Santa Gertruis Breeders International Association and the Premier Santa Gertrudis Association. He enjoyed driving his tractor, bailing hay, cooking, working outdoors, and especially loved spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by three sisters, Janell Hessel, Ima Dell Carpenter and an infant, Rachel Minnix. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 50 years, JoAnn Minix of Aquilla; one son, Donny Minix and wife Joy of Joshua; three granddaughters, Amber Minix Nichols and husband Matt of Athens, Lauren Minix of Stephenville, and Karly Abel of Axtell; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
