Bobby “Bob” Clyde Barnes, age 91, of Gholson, fondly known as “Grandpa Catfish”, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning August 22, 2021 in Bellmead, Texas. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Bob was born December 2, 1929 in Whitney, Texas to parents Ethel (Bennett) Barnes and Arthur E. Barnes. He grew up in Whitney along with one brother and many sisters. He attended school in Aquilla. A true love story began August 3, 1950 when he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Fanny Louise Eastwood. Happily married for 64 years, they raised their four children in the small town of Gholson. Bob loved his wife Fanny, children, grandchildren, and family with all of his heart. Bob was a very hardworking man and was also a very kind, caring man. He was always right there ready to lend a helping hand no matter who you were or where you were. Bob always made sure everyone around him was well taken care of and provided for. Bob worked as a farmer, then at Cameron Mills, and retired from Huck Manufacturing. Bob enjoyed country life to the fullest. Fishing with his wife, and being on the river with his children, grandchildren, family and friends was everything to him. Bob was an amazing fisherman but also enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, country music and the company of all. Bob is preceded in death by his love of his life, Fanny, his parents, and many siblings.
