Billy Wayne Carroll, age 85, of Hewitt, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, September 17, 2016 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Bold Springs Cemetery near West, with Paula Carroll officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the cemetery. Bill was born July 18, 1931 in Waco, the son of Troy and Jewell (Holloway) Carroll. His grandfather, Charles Holloway was the telegrapher for the quarry that built the state capitol in Austin. Later his grandfather moved to West as telegrapher and later became the mayor and bank president of West. Bill earned a bachelor degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Economics from Baylor University. He served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a business administrator for numerous companies until his retirement from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Waco. Bill was a former member of the Waco Chamber of Commerce and a founder of Revelation Ministries, which sends books to prisoners. He has written many letters to prisoners and sent countless Christian books behind prison walls. Bill enjoyed gardening, tending to his flowers and traveling. He especially loved being outdoors. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Peggy Stubblefield; and a brother, Charles Gene Carroll. Survivors include his wife, Paula Carroll of Hewitt; four daughters; four step children; ten step grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice.
