Billy Wade Scott

Billy Wade Scott, age 85, of Waco, formerly of West, passed away late Friday afternoon, November 14, 2014 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at West Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Billy was born May 13, 1929 near West, the son of Wade C. and Lola (Whalen) Scott. He attended Tokio and West schools. Billy served his country in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Baylor and earned a Master of Education degree from East Texas State University. On October 18, 1952 he was united in marriage to Naomi Popp in West. Billy worked as a safety inspector prior to his teaching career and also farmed part-time. He was a teacher for 21 years with the Waco I.S.D., Connally I.S.D. and West I.S.D., before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the West Brethren Church. Billy is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Wanzell Scott, Drue Pack and Jeanette Parker. Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Naomi Scott of Waco; a daughter, Toni Holecek of West; two sons, Travis Scott and wife Debbie of Ross and Tim Scott and wife Shannon of Coppell; two brothers, Bob Scott and wife Betty of Ross and Jerell Scott and wife Paulette of China Spring; three sisters, Mollie Holecek and husband Larry of Ross, Sandy McGee and husband Mike and Jeanne Kapczynski and husband Ben, all of West; four grandchildren, Amy Holecek, Trevor Scott, Preston Scott and Madison Scott; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Scott Kapczynski, David Scott, Mike Emery, David Popp, Matt McGee and Henry Popp. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Scott, Steve Holecek, Dwayne Barr, Steve Emery, Steve Popp, Geoffrey Popp and Richard Popp. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Brethren Church or the charity of your choice.
