Billy Gene Cook

Billy Gene Cook, age 80, of West, passed away early Friday morning, June 11, 2010 at St. Catherine's Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Chaplain Merry Wilburn officiating. Private burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Billy was born November 19, 1929 in West, the son of Ott and Dora (Busby) Cook. He attended schools in West. He was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. Billy worked for Hercules, formerly Rocketdyne Industries, in McGregor for over 40 years until retiring in 1994. He enjoyed the outdoors and farming. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 4819 in West. His parents; two brothers, Raymond Cook and Clarence "Buster" Rogers; and a very dear friend, Rudy Marak preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Randy Marak and wife Kelli of Spring; a sister, Jimmie Carter of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Eleanor Clingan and husband David, John Zett IV, Terry Zett and Eric Zett; two great grandchildren, Haley and Caleb Clingan, nieces and a nephew, Warren R. "Nick" Carter, Cheryl Carter and Terrie Carter, and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or to the West Meals On Wheels Program. The family wishes to thank Dr. Carl Chakmakjian, the nurses and staff at Texas Oncology in Waco for their exceptional care over the last four years.
