Billie "Betty" Kahanek, age 81, of Bellmead, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Elder David Herbelin officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. Sunday until service time. Betty was born November 19, 1934 in Taylor, the daughter of John and Annie (Balusek) Kaspar. She attended schools in Granger. Betty was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed baking, especially her favorite banana bread, gardening, and working in her yard. Betty had a special love for the outdoors, and was a very selfless person that always put others before herself. She enjoyed doing word puzzles, art and took a very special pride of keeping her cars in immaculate condition. Betty's grandchildren were always her first priority, having spent some 33 years of taking and picking up kids from school. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Patrick Kahanek; a sister, Lillian Vanek; and brothers, Rueben Kaspar, Alvin Kaspar, Wilburt Kaspar, Frankie Kaspar, and Johnny Kaspar. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Mesta and husband Jesse of Waco; grandchildren, Jonathan and Mia Mesta; a sister, Ella Mae Zbranek; and many other relatives and friends.
