Bill Honeycutt

July 18, 1945 — February 3, 2012

Bill Honeycutt, age 66, of Hillsboro, passed away late Friday morning, February 3, 2012 at Providence Healthcare Center in Waco. A Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Deacon Buddy Shieldes officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 p.m. Wednesday until service time. Mr. Honeycutt was born July 18, 1945 in Hillsboro, the son of Jasper and Vivian (Roper) Honeycutt. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1964 and later attended a beauty school in Dallas. On September 10, 1983 he was united in marriage to Karen Darlene "Kay" Moore in Hillsboro. Bill worked as a business manager for Eckerd Drug in Ennis for over ten years until his retirement in 2002. He also worked for U. S. Shoe in San Marcos and was a self employed construction worker for a few years. Bill loved singing and had his own band called "Silver Lake" and belonged to a gospel group called "The Servants" where they had traveled to several churches in the area to perform for many events. He was an avid writer and has so many poems and books composed by him that were never published. Bill enjoyed playing his guitar, riding horses and playing cards. He especially loved spending time with all his family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. Bill was a former member of the Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro and had recently been confirmed as a Catholic at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was also a former Masonic Lodge member in the Dallas area. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Jonnie Edmonds, Jeanette Poston, Earlene Thomas, Ruth Satelle and Evangeline Honeycutt; and infant sister, Evelyn Honeycutt. Survivors include his beloved wife of 28 years, Kay Honeycutt of Hillsboro; three daughters, Kelli Hudson and husband Eric and Kristi May and husband Richie, all of Hillsboro and Kerri Kaluza and husband Justin of West; a step-son, Lyle Wise and wife Nina of Celina; a step-daughter, Darlene Hagger and husband Monte of Waco; a brother, Tony Honeycutt and wife Carlene of Grand Prairie; a sister, Priscilla Atkins of Hillsboro; a brother-in-law, Benny Moore of Dallas; 21 grandchildren, Trent, Brandon, Aaron, Tyler Shane, Cailey, Clayton, Dustin, Kristian, Kayli, Charity, Tyler Cole, Riley, Kera, Phillip, Emily, Haley, Noah, Miles, Dallas, Jeanne and Chrystal; 6 great grandchildren, Khloe, Kelcee, Annabelle, Jahanna, Eloise, Dayton, and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's School Endowment Fund or the Hillsboro Education Foundation.
