William R. "Bill" Grimm, age 87, of West, passed away Tuesday morning, March 1, 2022 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. John Boiko as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Bill was born December 13, 1934 in West, the son of Herman E. and Frances (Soukup) Grimm. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School and a 1953 graduate of West High School where he was the football team manager. On May 17, 1956 he was united in marriage to Laurann Jarrett in West. Bill worked for Texas Power and Light Company in the Temple, Waco, Irving, Richardson, Hillsboro and Palestine areas for a total of 37 years until his retirement in November of 1992. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, where he served as President of the Advisory Board, was an Extraordinary Minister, and in 2009 was given the Lumen Gentium Award from the Diocese of Austin. He was also instrumental in the building of the St. Mary's Parish Center. Bill was a member of 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, K.J.T. Society #31, Athletic Booster Clubs in West & Hillsboro, Southwest Basketball Officials Association, Southwest Football Officials Association, and he served as a football official for over 35 years for many areas in Texas. He was an avid fisherman and is the last surviving founding member of West Bass Club. He enjoyed photography, watching Western movies and cooking shows, woodworking, gardening, canning, and yardwork. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marsha Fay Grimm; a brother, Edward Grimm; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Grimm; and a grandson, Kenny Grimm. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 66 years, Laurann Grimm of West; his children, Ray Grimm of Corsicana, Ann Vanek and husband Stevie of West, and Bob Grimm and wife Andrea of Hewitt; his grandchildren, Doug Diltz and wife Mandi, Kallie Grimm, Katy Vanek, Krystal Vanek, Zachary Vanek and wife Lindsey, Jay Grimm, Pierce Grimm, Anna Petrini, Nick Petrini, Abby Petrini, and Alex Petrini; his great grandchildren, Chloe, Landry, Aislin, Liam, Parker, Karter, Madison, and Mason; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Doug Diltz, Jay Grimm, Pierce Grimm, Nick Petrini, Pat Grimm, and Zachary Vanek. Honorary pallbearers are all members of the Knights of Columbus. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School.
