Betty Pareya

Betty Pareya, age 83, of West, passed away early Monday afternoon, August 24, 2015 at Providence Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Paul Hudson and Rev. Will Straten as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Betty was born May 4, 1932 in Prairie Hill, the daughter of Frances (Cvikel) and Adolph "A.P." Matus, Sr. She attended Waco High School and graduated from Vogue Beauty School in 1958. On June 27, 1950 she was united in marriage to W. F. "Boiley" Pareya in West. Boiley preceded her in death on October 21, 2003. Betty and Boiley owned and operated Pareya Package Store in West and Laguna Park since 1959. She also was owner of Betty's Beauty Shop since 1958 until her retirement in 2014. Betty was a longtime faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829. Betty enjoyed cooking, reading, and traveling . She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, A.P. Matus Jr.; and sisters, Hattie Griffin, Louise Johnson, Frances Wills and Mary Joe Marek. Survivors include two sons, David Pareya and wife Evelyn of West and Michael Pareya of Laguna Park; a sister, Elizabeth Hejl; three sisters-in-law, Lillie Marie Matus, Charlene Pareya and Evelyn Gagnon Boling; grandchildren, JoAnna Macik and husband Keith, Julie Pareya, Jessica Pareya and husband Rodney Owens and Rachel Pareya and fianc W. Leslie Long; great grandchildren , Addison and Jason; close family friends, James Stokes and Debbie Robertson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Rodney Owens, Keith Macik, W. Leslie Long, Johnny Hutyra, George Curry Wilson and Anton Kaluza. Honorary pallbearers are Jerome Lednicky, Bo Bohannan and Jerry Kadlubar. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund or West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
