Betty Rose (Schutza) Mahan, age 84, of Chalk Bluff, passed away late Monday evening, January 6, 2025 at West Rest Haven.

Graveside Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy, with David Snipes officiating. 

Betty was born November 21, 1940 in Waco, the daughter of Walter and Alma (Kelinske) Schutza. She attended schools in Waco and was a graduate of Connally High School. On July 22, 1961 she was united in marriage to Barney Ray Mahan in Waco. Barney preceded her in death on May 31, 2023. She worked alongside her husband Barney for many years in the farm implement business. Betty was also a homemaker, growing her own vegetables and cooking homemade meals for her family. She loved spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Betty is also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Virginia Glaze; and a brother, Glen Schutza.

Survivors include her children, Rick Dalon Mahan of The Colony, and Marla Mahan Jones of San Antonio; her grandchildren, Miles, Austin, and Erin; her great-grandson, Gavin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
