Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Betty was born on March 17, 1929 in Grand Prairie, the daughter of Joe and Lillie Chambers. She attended school in Grand Prairie and spent most of her young life growing up in Dallas where she met and married Clyde E. McCray. Subsequent to his death, Betty met and married the man she considered to be the love her life, Henry Janek. They were successful in the grocery business in Dallas until they moved to Hubbard, where they continued operating a grocery store, and Henry pursued his love for farming and raising cattle. They spent over 44 happy years together, operating their business, traveling to Las Vegas with friends, spending summers in South Texas, and enjoying their family and grandchildren. She also loved to sew, decorate her home, to fish, and to shop. Betty's personality was larger than life. Her spirit and witty sense of humor impressed everyone she met. She was an excellent self-taught seamstress and spent many enjoyable hours at the sewing machine creating beautiful clothing for her family. She loved animals, especially her beloved dog, Missy. Betty had a big heart and always championed the underdog. She was passionate about many things, but most of all, she loved her family. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lester Chambers; one sister, Dodie Dean; and her beloved uncle, Harvey Myers. Survivors include one son, Clyde McCray, Jr. and wife Schantile of Cleburne; three daughters, Carolyn Sutton and husband Jerry of Dallas, Lynda Gilcrease and husband Ken of Spur, and Pat McCray and husband Tony Choban of Austin; ten grandchildren, Jason Sutton, Mark Sutton, Brian Wilson, Chris Wilson, Kimberly Dee, Kate Choban, Robin Choban, Kendall Hartwright, Clyde McCray III, and Bonnie McCray; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Moore and husband Gary of Hartwell, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Lillie Nors and Dorothy Hutyra; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Active pallbearers will be Jason Sutton, Mark Sutton, Brian Wilson, Chris Wilson, Erwin "Butch" Janek, and Scott Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Choban, Jerry Sutton, and Ken Gilcrease. Memorials may be made to The American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006 or online at www.lungusa.org or to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Betty's caretaker and friend, Rosa Ramirez for the companionship and devotion she provided to Betty over the past two years.
