Betty H. Russell

January 21, 1924 — June 22, 2005

Betty H. Russell, age 81, of Waco, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 22, 2005 at Lake Shore Village in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with the Rev. Brad Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Russell was born on January 21, 1924 in Leesberg, Mississippi, the daughter of Johnny and Sarah Ann (Renfro) Herrod. In the early 1940's she was united in marriage to Dennis D. Russell. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1990. She worked at an aircraft factory in California during World War II, but Betty will be remembered most as a housewife and homemaker who loved to spend time with her family. Betty also loved tending to her garden and taking care of her animals, she would give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gholson. Two grandsons, Tim Russell and Nathan Nix; and a brother, Johnnie B. Herrod, also preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Dannis E. Russell and his wife Sandy, Stephen J. Russell, and Gaylon G. Russell and his wife Brenda, all of Gholson; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tim Russell Memorial Scholarship Fund for West High School students.
