Bernice O'Keefe Witt, age 81, of West, passed away early Friday evening, November 27, 2009 at Providence Health Center in Waco. According to her wishes, no services will be held. Mrs. Witt was born on September 26, 1928 in Haskell, the daughter of William Earl and Rosella (Middlebrook) O'Keefe. She attended schools in Tokio and near Abilene before graduating from Megargel High School. She was married to N. C. Witt, Jr. in 1948. Bernice was a homemaker and operated a dairy with her husband for over 40 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and especially loved taking care of her dogs. Bernice was a member of Tokio Baptist Church. Her parents; three brothers, Pat O'Keefe, Johnny O'Keefe and Richard O'Keefe; and two sisters, Lola Jenkins and Bea McClellan, all preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Richard Witt and wife Rochelle of Dallas; a daughter, Amy Rose Moore and husband Bobby of Teague; her dog "Happy"; six grandchildren, Nathaniel Witt, Amanda Witt, Aden Witt, Autumn Witt, Thomas Moore and Nick Posey; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Connie Stone. In lieu of flowers,memorials may be made to West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
