Benny Gauer

Benny Joe Gauer, age 66, of Ross, passed away Sunday morning, September 13, 2015 at Jeffery Place Healthcare Center in Waco. Graveside services held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at White Rock Cemetery, with Rev. Chris Johnson officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Benny was born January 14, 1949 in Killeen, the son of Alvin Joe and Jane (Barrington) Gauer. He attended Garland High School. He served two tours with the United States Army from 1967 to 1969 during the Vietnam War. Benny was united in marriage to Jeane Gilmore on January 21, 1970 in Rockwall. He worked for Time Warner Cable for over 30 years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Benny enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and arrowhead hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Benny is preceded in death by a son, Joseph Alexander Gauer and his father, Alvin Joe Gauer. Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Jeane Gauer of Ross; two sons, Benny Joe Gauer Jr and wife Tracy and Samuel Allen Gauer and wife Monica, all of Waco; a daughter, Sonya DuGay and husband Christopher of Waco; his mother, Jane Hall; a brother, Billy Ray Gauer and wife Vicki; grandchildren, Victor Martinez, Erik Martinez, Luke Martinez, Ivan Martinez, Alexander Gauer and Brayden DuGay; step-grandchildren, Chelsea and William Nicholson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are B.J. Gauer Jr., Sam Gauer, Roland Alford, Jonathan Biles, Ben West, Billy Ray Gauer and Brian Owen. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Bluebonnet Hospice. the family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Bluebonnet Health Services (Hospice) of Waco for the loving care in the final two months of his life.
