Benjamin S. Chudej, age 84, of West, passed away early Monday morning, October 10, 2005 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Vincent Chacko, I.M.S. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. Mr. Chudej was born on October 23, 1920 in West, the last living child of nine children born to Vince and Julia (Gabera) Chudej. He attended schools in West before entering the United States Army and serving during World War II. On June 5, 1944 he was united in marriage to Henrietta Nors in West. He worked for Nemecek Brothers Meat Market in West for over 20 years before retiring in 1983. Benjamin was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption for all his life. He was also a member of K.J.T. Society #31 and West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. Benjamin enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes, Taroky, and the accordion. He was an avid Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan. His parents; an infant son, Lawrence Eugene Chudej; five brothers, Vince Chudej, William Chudej, Albin Chudej, Raymond Chudej, and Edwin Chudej; and three sisters, Henrietta Nors, Sophie Hubanek, and Margie Gajdosik; all preceded him in death. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Henrietta Chudej of West; a son, Jerry Chudej and wife Mary Lou of West; two daughters, Pat J. Lee and Judy Kudelka and husband James, all of West; eight grandchildren, Lori Klaus and husband Kyle, Cristy Hykel and husband Justin, Leslie Lee, Stephanie Lee, Chad Kudelka and wife Janine, Matt Kudelka, Amanda Kudelka, and Evan Kudelka; a great grandson, Kade Klaus and a soon to be born great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Chad Kudelka, Matt Kudelka, Evan Kudelka, Justin Hykel, Kyle Klaus, Kade Klaus, Gary Nors, and . Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center.
