Barbara Ruth Walter

Barbara Ruth Walter, age 67, of Rockdale, formerly of McGregor, passed away early Friday morning, December 18, 2020 at Robert's Hospital in Dallas. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will have a come-and-go visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Very limited capacity, facial masks, and social distancing are required at all services. Barbara was born June 13, 1953 in Del Rio, the daughter of Melvin and Polly (Harris) Jones. She attended many schools while her father was serving in the military. She lived many years in McGregor prior to moving to Rockdale in 2000. She was a proud mother and homemaker. Barbara enjoyed going to the casinos, camping and fishing. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Walter; and a sister, Jeannie Robinette. Survivors include her husband, James Lay of Rockdale; her daughters, Melisa Worrell and husband Wes of Crawford and Jackie Walter of McGregor; two sisters, Theresa Halbert and husband Bill and Linda Ashley and husband Butch; two brothers, Richard Jones and Michael Jones and wife Dana; nine grandchildren; a great granddaughter on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
