Barbara Recek

Barbara (Kubacak) Recek, age 87, of Pflugerville, formerly of West, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 1, 2024 at West Rest Haven in West.

A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Ronnie Sykora. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel.

Barbara was born July 15, 1936 in West, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Smajstrla) Kubacak. She was a 1953 graduate of West High School. On July 24, 1954 she was united in marriage to Johnny L. Recek in West. Johnny preceded her in death on February 7, 2004. Barbara was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West.  She was also a former member of the Catholic Daughters Court #829, a member of the KJT Society #31, and a founding member of the West Czech Folk Dancers. She worked for Texas Life Insurance Company in Waco and was a secretary for the TSTC Administrative Offices for several years. Barbara enjoyed cooking, watching television, making all crafts, attending auctions, and playing with her dogs. She loved spending time with her family.

Barbara is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Raymond Sr., George, and Frank Kubacak; and a sister, Irene Devers.

Survivors include her children, Mark Recek of Pflugerville, Mike Recek of Pflugerville, and Melissa Sefcik and husband Bubba of Ross; her grandchildren, Luke Sefcik and wife Sydnee and Leia Chupik and husband Tiger, all of West; a great granddaughter, Finley Rei Chupik; a brother, Charles Kubacak Sr. and wife Rose; a sister, Lucille Uptmore; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Gary Uptmore, Garrett Uptmore, Inky Uptmore, Tiger Chupik, Luke Sefcik, Bubba Sefcik.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
