Barbara Jean Bezdek, age 75, of Waco, passed away late Monday morning, December 6, 2021 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. Stephen Nesrsta as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. Barbara was born August 19, 1946 in Hillsboro, the daughter of Jerry and Leona (Tichavsky) Bezdek. She was a 1964 graduate of Abbott High School. She was baptized, confirmed and spent her childhood and early years as a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Barbara worked for the American Bank and several other businesses in Waco for many years before retiring in 2018. She enjoyed gardening, drawing, and spending time with her family. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Janet Bezdek. She is survived by her sister and brother, Linda Rosen and husband Jay of Houston and Michael Bezdek of Abbott; a niece, Rachael Campbell and husband Danny; nephews, Zachary Rosen and wife Annemarie, Jeff Bezdek and wife Laura, and James Bezdek; a great niece, Sloane Rose Campbell; great nephews, Noah Bezdek and Kai Bezdek; and many other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Danny Campbell, Zachary Rosen, Jeff Bezdek, James Bezdek, Sonny Tlustos, Gene Petros, and Richard Nors. Honorary pallbearers are Abbott High School Class of 1964. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hill County Paw Pals, family intentions, or for Masses said for the repose of her soul.
