Barbara Ann Mitchell

Barbara Ann Mitchell Collier, age 73, of West, entered eternal rest with her Savior on Monday, May 1, 2017 at her residence. A celebration of her Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Bold Spring Baptist Church in West, with Bishop Sammie Sullivan and Pastor Monty E. Francis officiating. Burial will follow at Doris Miller Memorial Park in Bellmead. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Barbara was born November 25, 1943 in West, the daughter of Mary (Sullivan) and John Howard, Sr. She graduated from Dunbar High School and worked as a nursing assistant. She was united in marriage to Willie James Collier on July 31, 2009 in West. Barbara worked for West Rest Haven and Providence Home Care for many years until her retirement in 1998. She was a faithful member of Bold Spring Baptist Church, where she served as President of the usher board and was also a deaconess. Barbara enjoyed helping in the culinary department and sing in the choir. She loved cooking, singing, spending time with family and helping others. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; a son, James "Dinky" Stewart; a grandson, Nicholas Davis; and a sister, Geraldine Howard. Survivors include her beloved husband, Willie James "Apple Jack" Collier of West; her children, Patrick Stewart and wife Drumeika of West, Mary Franklin of Waco, Tina Daniel and husband Anthony of West, Tyrone Stewart of Waco; her brother, John David Howard, Jr.; sisters, Pauline Taylor, Bobbie Hardin, Mary Lee Autry, Miltonee Clater and husband Freddie and Vesta Harris; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Emanuel Mitchell, Robert Benford, Aaron Daily, John Howard, III, Simeen Jefferson, Daniel McGruder, Eric Howard and Ronald Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Bold Spring Baptist Church.
