Audrey Mitchell Tufts

Audrey Mitchell Tufts, age 74, of Abbott, passed away late Thursday evening, September 17, 2020 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. Stephen Nesrsta as celebrant. Graveside Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Woodbury Cemetery near Hillsboro. Limited capacity available for services, with masks and social distancing required. Audrey "Sis" was born May 1, 1946 in Dallas, the daughter of John Harvey and Margaret "Peggy" (Shepard) Mitchell. She was a 1964 graduate of Hillsboro High School. Audrey was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott where she served as the church secretary for several years. She worked for the Abbott, Malone and various other Post Offices for 36 years before retiring in 2016. Previous employments were also The Hillsboro Reporter and Abbott Quick Stop. Audrey loved all animals and had many cats and dogs through the years. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, painting and was a wonderful artist. Audrey is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, John Harvey Mitchell Jr. and James Michael "Mike" Mitchell. Survivors include her children, Bryan Tufts and wife Cathy of Richmond and Aprille Kaska and husband Ryan of Abbott; her beloved grandchildren, Kyndall Kaska, Michael Kaska, Johnathan Tufts, and Nathan Tufts; her former husband, Robert Tufts; a sister-in-law, Karen Mitchell; brothers-in-law, Benny Tufts and wife Linda Kay, Bill Tufts and wife Anita, Buddy Tufts and wife Frances, and Barry Tufts and wife Dolores; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Bryan Tufts, Ryan Kaska, Michael Kaska, Barry Tufts, Nick Pustejovsky and Roger Kaska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hill County Paw Pals, P. O. Box 1533, Hillsboro, TX 76645, West Rest Haven Memorial Fund, or the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church in Abbott.
