Audrey Donahew

Audrey Donahew, age 85, of Granbury, formerly of Elm Mott, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 24, 2010 at Harbor Lakes Nursing Home in Granbury. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Donahew was born October 14, 1924 in West, the daughter of Taylor and Louise (Miller) Duncan. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School, West High School and 4-C College in Waco, after which she went to work for Alamo Steel. On October 31, 1950 she was united in marriage to Bobby Joe Donahew in West. Audrey was also a secretary with Great Southwest Warehouses, retiring in 1978. They moved to Dallas in 1956 and remained there until 1985, when Bob retired from Sherwin Williams. They bought property and built a home in Elm Mott, where they remained until 2008. Audrey loved being a homemaker, along with gardening, reading, cooking, embroidery and bird watching. She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, David Duncan and Daniel Duncan; and two sisters, Lanelle Krammer and Alma Jean Duff. Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Bob of Granbury; a daughter, Denise English, also of Granbury; a sister, Lou Sullins of Clifton; a granddaughter, Kristin Porter and husband David of Beaumont; a great-granddaughter, Lilly Joeann Porter; four nieces, Lynda Svacek and husband Paul of Granbury, Cindy Crisler of Whitney, Diane Gray and husband Gary of Waco, and Marianne Donahew of Hillsboro; many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research or St. Martin's Catholic Church Building Fund.
