Arthur Derrick, Jr.

Arthur Clyde "Art" Derrick Jr., age 82, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 10, 2024 at his residence.

No services will be held at this time.

Arthur was born July 29, 1941 in Weslaco, Texas, the son of Lois Inez (McKinney) and Arthur C. Derrick Sr. On April 21, 1972 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Mynar in Durant, Oklahoma. Arthur was a member of Our Lady Of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro. He worked for Clifton Carpet in Dallas and the Coppell Independent School District. Arthur enjoyed, fishing, mowing, riding on his tractor, and taking care of his pets. He excelled at playing lead guitar, especially country music, playing at area nursing homes and jams.

Arthur is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Faye Kilgo, Ruth Fretwell, Pansy Derrick, and Dorothy Stanifer; and a brother, Mike Derrick.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Evelyn Derrick of Hillsboro; a daughter, Rose Sharon Puls and husband Chris of Willis; a stepson, Shawn Green of Dallas; five grandchildren; his sisters, Trish Estes and husband Kirk, and Janie David; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
