Arthur Blake Gassaway, age 59, of Gholson, passed away Thursday evening, May 14, 2015 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Stevens officiating. Masonic Graveside Rites will follow at White Rock Cemetery near Ross. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Blake was born January 2, 1956 in Waco, the son of A.B. and Nellie (Mann) Gassaway. He attended schools in Gholson and was a 1974 graduate of West High School. Blake was the owner of Gassaway's in Gholson. He was a long time member of the Gholson Volunteer Fire Department and the Karem Shrine, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Past Master of the West Masonic Lodge #475. Blake was active in all Gholson community activities and supported many local endeavors. Blake is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a brother, Michael B. Gassaway and wife Linda of China Spring; two nieces, Jessica Ayn Machac of Penelope and Katie Pinson of Philadelphia, PA; a great nephew, Tyler Machac; a great niece, Paityn Machac; a close friend and co-worker, Mitch Vaughan; and many cousins, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Bryan McCartney, Randy Spence, Mike Trammel, Elmon Clater, Tom Buzbee, Terry Buzbee, David Ballew and Vern Schriner. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Gifford, Lynn Walker, Chris Taylor, Nick Eastwood, Keith Talbert, Pat Talbert, Gary Tully, James Longnecker and Sammy Fenn. Memorials may be made to the Gholson Volunteer Fire Department.
