Arnold Hajek, Jr., age 74, of West, passed away early Saturday morning, March 26, 2005 at his residence. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel recited by Janice Kaluza. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. Mr. Hajek was born July 5, 1930 in West, the son of Arnold and Louise (Hykel) Hajek, Sr. He attended St. Mary's school and schools in Ross and Abbott. He served his country with the United States Army. After returning he married Dorothy Ann Grmela on October 15, 1960 in Abbott. Arnold worked for General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was also a farmer and rancher. Arnold loved to fish and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and helped to build St. Mary's School. He was also a member of K.J.T. Society No. 31 and V.F.W. Post No. 4819. His parents, and four brothers, William Hajek, Reynold Hajek, Albin Hajek, and Joseph Hajek all preceded him in death. Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Dorothy (Grmela) Hajek; two sons, Charles Hajek and wife Charlott of Abbott and Louis Hajek of West; two daughters, Louise Girard and her husband Lawrence and Theresa Soukup and her husband Henry, all of West; three sisters, Florence Pustejovsky and her husband Bob of West, Anna Louise Kaska and her husband George of Abbott, and Joan Holecek and her husband Ernest of West; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Hajek Martin of Bellmead and Amy Hajek Kruzick of Ft. Worth, six grandchildren, C.J. Hajek, Matthew Hajek, Tommy Girard, Joseph Girard, Holly Soukup and Henry Soukup; a step granddaughter; three step great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Pallbearers are David Pustejovsky, Richard Kaska, Andy Kaska, E. J. Holecek, Joseph Holecek, Anthony Hajek, Raymond Hajek and Ralph Pustejovsky. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center or the charity of your choice.
