Arlene (Wilkinson) Tyra Schroder, age 79, of Whitney, formerly of Odessa, passed away Wednesday morning, October 25, 2023 at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro, while surrounded by her family.
Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating.
Arlene was born March 29, 1944 in Snyder, the daughter of Fred and Caroline (Petri) Wilkinson. She attended schools in Snyder and was a 1962 graduate of Odessa High School. On September 3, 1993 she was united in marriage to Tom Schroder in Key West, Florida. Tom preceded her in death in May of 2016. Arlene was a member of the First Baptist Church of West and was a former member of Highland United Methodist Church in Odessa and First United Methodist Church in Ingleside. She worked for many debt collection agencies in Texas and Florida and was known to get the job done. She and Tom traveled by truck to 48 states while in their retirement. In her spare time, Arlene enjoyed sewing, oil-painting, macrameing, reading, and keeping a clean home. One of her true joys in life was taking care of her French Bulldog, Joy. She loved being with her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arlene is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fred Jr., Harry, Buster, Billy and George Wilkinson; sisters, Dimple Gray, Lottie Scott, Callie Lewis, and Corrine Armstrong; and a step-daughter, Jessica Fleischman.
Survivors include her children, Douglas Tyra and wife Kristy, Darlene Eastin and husband Kevin, Don Tyra and wife Lora, Derek Tyra and wife Barb, Jeff Schroder and wife Chrissy, and Jennifer Bird and husband Tim; the father of her children, Gene Tyra and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Drew Tyra and wife Amelia, Ian Tyra and wife Katy, Christopher Eastin and fiancée Ashton, Dylan Eastin, Kyndal Orr and husband J.T., Madison Perry and husband Shane, Breanna Tyra and fiancé Harrison, Hailey Tyra, Rachel Wray, Derek Nelms, Devin Nelms and wife Leigha, Justin Richardson, Joshua Schroder, Matthew Bird, Jacob Bird, Sara Bird, and Amanda Tedrow and husband Kyle; great-grandchildren, Parker, Silas, and Memphis Tyra, Leo Tyra, Kaylie Orr, Jeremiah Summers, Henslee Hendrix, Caden Frazier, Parkyr Nelms, Maverick Richardson, and Phoenix, Solaris, Rowan and Kadence Tedrow; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of West Missions Fund.
