Anthony Ruetten

October 23, 1930 — April 13, 2020

Anthony Ruetten, age 89, of Elm Mott, passed away late Monday evening, April 13, 2020 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco. Private Graveside Services will be held Friday, April 17, 2020 (click here for LIVE STREAM ) at St. Mary's Cemetery with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by Dyess Air Force Base. A Rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m. Thursday (by LIVE STREAM only) followed by a virtual visitation until 6:00 p.m. Per CDC requirements, only immediate family will be allowed for rosary and graveside service. Anthony was born October 23, 1930 in Sparta, Wisconsin, the son of George and Mary (Muehlenberg) Ruetten. He was a 1948 graduate of Sparta High School. On December 29, 1955 he was united in marriage to Helen Hromadka in West. Anthony proudly served his country for over 20 years with the United States Air Force and was chosen Airman of the Year. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819, RVOS Lodge #6, and the Knights of Columbus Council #2305, all in West. Anthony enjoyed visiting and talking with friends and working outdoors. He especially loved spending time with his family. Anthony is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Margaret "Sister Faith" Ruetten, Veronica Weibel Sophie Cote, Rita Baumgartner, Agnes Burnham, and Catherine Ruetten; and brothers, Charles Ruetten, George Ruetten and Stephen Ruetten. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Helen Ruetten of Elm Mott; his son, David Ruetten of Elm Mott; his daughter, Cynthia Carlile and husband Lee of Waxahachie; grandchildren, John Carlile and wife Rachel, Ann Marie Carlile, and Thomas Carlile; sisters-in-law, Maria Ruetten and Ella Ruetten; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. The family encourages you to leave a message on the Tribute Wall.
