Annie Mae Marek, age 80, of Penelope, passed away Monday afternoon, April 29, 2019 at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Annie was born December 12, 1938 near West, the daughter of Frank R. and Annie (Gerik) Kolar. She grew up in West and attended Alligator and West schools. On November 14, 1956 she was united in marriage to Joe Marek in West. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2006. She enjoyed working alongside her husband on the farm. Annie enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, and loved all animals including her cats and dogs. She cherished the time spent with family especially her grandchildren. Annie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 in West, St. Anne Altar Society, and Catholic Life. Annie is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank Kolar, Rudolph Kolar, Adolph Kolar, Albin Kolar, and George Kolar; sisters, Mary Grmela, Angeline Kolar, Margaret Kolar, Lillian Kolar, and Irene Kolar. Survivors include her children, JoAnn Nors and husband T. C. of Penelope, Larry Marek and wife Judy of West, and twins Annette Meador of West and Janette Porter of Woodway; brothers, Alfons Kolar, Raymond Kolar, and Johnny Kolar and wife Edda; grandchildren, Jeffrey Nors and Kim, Amber Marek and Pat, Joseph Nors and Eric, Larry Joe Marek and wife Breanna, Christopher Bacak and wife Deborah, Amanda Ibarra and husband Frank, Zackary Meador and Lexi, and Stacy Porter; great-grandchildren, Kristion, Audrey, Kierstyn, Annistyn, Noah, Nolan, Ollie, Halle, Ellie, and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Jeffrey Nors, Joseph Nors, Christopher Bacak, Zackary Meador, Kristion Powers, Larry Joe Marek, and Frank Ibarra. Honorary pallbearers are the great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and St. Mary's Cemetery Pavilion Fund.
