Annie Kubacak, age 97, of West, passed away late Saturday evening, April 27, 2013 at Lakeshore Village in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 2:00 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Boniface Onjefu as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Annie was born October 23, 1915 in Tours, the daughter of August John and Lizzie (Kruse) Schuetz. She attended schools in the Tours area. On November 23, 1938 she was united in marriage to Joseph Matis Kubacak. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1994. For many years she was a cook for the Abbott Independent School District and also worked at the Turkey Shop in Abbott. Annie enjoyed taking walks, crocheting, gardening, growing flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and the Senior Citizens Center in West. Annie is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Nona Jean Gerik; a sister. Marie White; and a brother, John Schuetz. Survivors include a son, Larry Joe Kubacak of West; a son-in-law, Marvin Gerik, Sr. of West; a brother, Eddie Schuetz and wife Velma; six grandchildren, Marvin Gerik Jr., Amanda Bettge and husband Billy, Jeanne Anderson and husband Bryan, Chris Gerik, David Gerik and wife Jennifer, and Cathy Gerik Jeffers and husband Buddy, all of West; 11 great-grandchildren, Kevin Bettge, Sharla Salazar and husband Abel, Tyler Bettge, Denton Gerik, Jessica Gerik, Daniel Gerik, Maddison Gerik, Cole Anderson, Kaden Anderson, Kaci Jeffers, and Amanda Huerta; three great-great grandchildren, Gabbie, Junior, and Graciella; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Kevin Bettge, Tyler Bettge, Cole Anderson, Denton Gerik, Daniel Gerik, Abel Salazar, Kaden Anderson, and Jered Rochester. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Fire Department or ACTS.
