Annie Hubik, age 92, of Temple, passed away Thursday evening, March 6, 2008 at Woodland Springs Nursing Home in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Anthony Odiong as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hubik was born on September 24, 1915 in Tours, the daughter of Conrad and Mary (Seith) Grellhesl. She attended school in Aquilla. On January 18, 1937, she was united in marriage to George Charles Hubik in West. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1986. She worked as a seamstress for Lorch Manufacturing Company in West and Waco for many years. George and Annie then moved to the Temple area in 1967 where they lived for many years. Annie loved quilting, especially for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling and baking kolaches. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Temple where she was a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the R.V.O.S. Lodge in Temple where her husband served as treasurer and K.J.Z.T. in Temple. Two brothers, Conrad Grellhesl and Alfonse Grellhesl; and two sisters, Hattie Stone and Agnes Neighbors, and a son-in-law, Gene Schutza; also precede her in death. Survivors include four sons, Wesley Hubik and wife Patti of Mesquite, Robert Hubik and wife Kris of Bedford, Tom Hubik and wife Becky of Austin and George Hubik and wife Kelly of Belton; three daughters, Lillian Bohannan and husband James and Margie Schutza, all of West and Janie Rejcek and husband Rudolph of Mansfield; three brothers, August Grellhesl of Waco, Fred Grellhesl of Houston and William Grellhesl of West; one sister, Rosie Hutyra of West; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren and two on the way; one great great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are grandsons, Michael Hubik, Joe Hubik, Dennis Bohannan, Darron Bohannan, Dale Bohannan, Steven Rejcek, Randall Rejcek, Doug Schutza, Kyle Hubik and Jay Hubik. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, Debra Smithey, Deana Laubert, Bridget Wix, Lorrie Anderle, Sandra Edwards, Rhonda Steelman, Cheryl Adame, Mellissa Crandall, Mindy Montgomery, Melanie Hubik, Nicole Hubik, and Caitlin Hubik. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center or to the charity of your choice.
