Antonette "Ann" Straten, age 62, of Elm Mott, passed away late Friday afternoon, February 25, 2011 at her residence. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Msgr. Isidore Rozycki, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Will Straten and Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery. Ann was born February 27, 1948 in Waco, the daughter of Albert Carl and Willie Mae (Jupe) Weissinger. On November 9, 1968 she was united in marriage to Herman E. "Ed" Straten in Bellmead. Herman preceded her in death on July 11, 1997. Ann attended schools West and LaVega and graduated from LaVega High School in 1967. She worked as a cashier for Sam's Club in Bellmead for the past 20 years. Prior to that, she worked for the Connally I.S.D. and at Texas Farm Bureau. Ann was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours where she also served as a CCE Teacher. Ann always loved spending time with her grandchildren and also enjoyed sewing, working in the yard, tending to her flower garden, cooking and cleaning. Survivors include a daughter, Candice Moore and husband Grant of Moody; a son, Nickolas Straten and wife Amanda of Gholson; two sisters, Debora Vrba and husband Clyde of Leroy, and Carolyn Thompson and husband Charles of Waco; four grandchildren, Cheyanne Moore, Desiree Martinez, Hunter Straten and Rylee Straten; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's Cemetery Association or to the family to assist them with medical expenses.
