Ann Reed, age 63, of Elm Mott, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 27, 2010 at her residence. Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Darrell Abercrombie officiating. Ann was born on September 28, 1946 in Waco, the daughter of L. A. Rager and Peggy Bragg Askew. She attended schools in Dallas. On January 11, 1974, she was united in marriage to Steve Reed in Sulfur Springs. Ann was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was very dedicated and willing to help in her community. She received her Fire Training Certificate and a CERT Team First Responders Certification. Ann then became the Fire Chief for the Elm Mott Volunteer Fire Department. She also served as President of the Board and currently the Assistant Fire Chief. Ann worked as a firefighter for the HOT Speedway and was co-owner of Reed's Auto Repair for over 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with all the gang at the fire station. Ann is preceded in death by her adoptive mother, Georgia Doris; and her mother-in-law, Leona Reed. Survivors include her beloved husband of 36 years, Steve Reed of Elm Mott; her father, L. A. Rager and wife Marie of Moody; her biological mother, Peggy Askew of Hope, Arkansas; her father-in-law, Marvin Reed of Sulfur Springs; three sons, Keith Duncan and wife Marcie of Wolfe City, Jackie Reed and special friend Tammy Goldberg of Bellmead, and Rusty Reed of Elm Mott; two daughters, Sheri Reed and Veronica Duncan and her fianc Chuck Hamlin, all of Elm Mott; daughter-in-law, Deborah Reed of Axtell; two brothers, Bud Rager of Dallas and Michael Askew of Hope, Arkansas; five sisters, Sherrie McDowell of Waco, Katy Foyt of Chalk Bluff, Debby Spivey of Moody, Lori Wilson of Dallas and Kathy Askew of Washington; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Honorary pallbearers are her fellow members of the Elm Mott Volunteer Fire Department, Randy Kline, John "Pork Chop" New, Ronnie Perry, Dorene Stricklin, Adam Janysek, and Adrian "Country". In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a memorial account for Ann at Independent Bank, 298 S. Connally Dr., P. O. Box 129, Elm Mott, Texas 76640.
