Alyen Turley Levulis

October 29, 1920 — December 9, 2010

Alyen (Turley) Levulis, age 90, of Ft. Worth passed away early Thursday afternoon, December 9, 2010 at Trinity Terrace in Ft. Worth. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Agape Baptist Church, 3972 Southwest Blvd., Ft. Worth, TX 76116, with Chaplain Tricia Baldwin officiating. Private burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Mrs. Levulis was born October 29, 1920 in Ada, Oklahoma, the daughter of Roy and Grace (Adams) Turley. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1939 before attending Austin College. On March 21, 1943 she was united in marriage to Albert L. "Al" Levulis in Sherman. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1986. Alyen was an instructional assistant for the Ft. Worth Independent School District for over 20 years before retiring in 1988. She was very proud of being the 99th member of the Agape Baptist Church. Alyen's grandchildren and friends were the focus and source of great joy in her life. Caring for Keith during his elementary years after Al's death, attending countless soccer and basketball games for him, sewing Halloween costumes and doll clothes for Summer and Skylar, and cooking for and with all three of them as well as traveling to see them in Arizona, Florida, and Colorado gave her great delight. She watched their progress through school and was exceptionally proud of each of their individual achievements. Hearing about Keith's computer job (which she didn't totally understand), learning about her granddaughter-in-law, Mara's advanced degrees, talking to Skylar about her progress learning Chinese, and watching Summer perform en pointe kept her connected to their worlds and experiences. Playing cards until midnight and shopping with her special young friend, Deanna Hall, were two of her favorite activities. In addition to her family, her Wedgewood neighborhood friends and the friends she made through the Widowed Persons' Organization enriched her life to the end. Her parents and three sisters, Una Mae Herd, Margie Lee Newell, and Patsy Hewlett also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Lee Ann Levulis of Ft. Worth and Lisa Staib and husband David of Broomfield, Colorado; three grandchildren, Keith Levulis Anthony and wife Mara-Lysa, Summer Staib, and Skylar Staib; and several other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Agape Baptist Church or Trinity Terrace Foundation. Lee Ann and Lisa would like to extend special thanks to the 2nd floor staff of Trinity Terrace for the patience and loving care they gave Alyen. They treated her as if she were their own mother which is an exceptional gift. Alyen's family would also like to thank the outstanding staff of Vitas Hospice. They were totally focused on what was best for Alyen, giving her both a peaceful and dignified end to a well-lived life.
